DID YOU KNOW... every trainee who is accepted on the programme in this region, is offered 24 months experience in general practice? As the rest of the programme is made up of 3 different specialities, you'll receive a comprehensive and wide-ranging educational package of training. But this is only one of the many reasons why you should consider moving here.
The East Midlands is a fantastic place to train, work and live and has everything from vibrant multicultural cities to rolling English countryside. Each programme offers the chance to work in integrated, forward looking primary care services. Our high training standards enable you to develop an understanding of the role of the GP as an important member of the local community.
Excellent family friendly facilities, including top class schools, reasonable house prices and good transport links make this the ideal place to develop your primary care career.
There are excellent sporting and leisure facilities including Leicester City Football, Premiership Rugby at Northampton and Leicester, the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham and National Space Centre in Leicester. In you prefer, there are walking and climbing opportunities in the Peak District, or the chance for a more leisurely stroll along a beach in Lincolnshire.
We have a number of exciting opportunities for trainees in the East Midlands – you can apply for an academic clinical fellowship to develop additional expertise in teaching and research. We also offer training placements in ST2 that can help you gain expertise in leadership, innovation, or a specific clinical area. Or if working overseas appeals, we offer 12 months between ST2 and ST3 in a resource poor rural South African or Ugandan community as part of a four-year global health and GP training programme. Post training, all our trainees have the chance to complete a post-CCT fellowship. These fellowships offer the chance to develop a specialist interest alongside additional support such as mentoring to help get your GP career off to a flying start.
