NHS England’s International GP Recruitment (IGPR) Programme has now closed to new applications.
International GPs currently approved to join the programme or already in the programme will however continue to be supported by Health Education England and NHS England to complete their programme on their existing terms and conditions. For further information on this, please contact your local NHS England lead for the programme.
The main route available for international GPs now wishing to work in England is the GP International Induction Programme (IIP), which provides a safe, supported and direct route for qualified GPs to return to, or join NHS general practice in England.
If you choose to join the new GP International Induction Programme (IIP) you will be able to access benefits and tailored support as you work through the training and assessment programme. This includes a personal approach to meet your needs, experience and personal commitments, including financial and practical support. You will also have a dedicated account manager to guide you through the process.
GPs that undertook their GP training in a non-EEA country must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR) from the General Medical Council (GMC) before joining the scheme.
GPs requiring visas to work in the UK should ensure they read our guidance on visas Click here before applying.
