Health Education England working across the South West

Health Education South West (HESW) has been formed by combining Peninsula and Severn Deaneries. Applicants for GP training have the opportunity to choose from any of the 10 vocational training schemes situated across the South West of England. The region offers something for everyone; from the stunning coastlines of Cornwall to the big-city feel of Bristol.

Peninsula and Severn have both built reputations for Innovation and excellence, and there are inspiring training opportunities across HESW. As well as high standards of GP training, we are proud to offer a range of exciting initiatives, including opportunities to either enter a Global Health Placement or ST4 year.

For further information on applying for a Global Health Placement scheme in addition to your ST1 application visit here or for an ST4 Leadership andExcellence extension of training year here.

Our recent trainee satisfaction survey shows that HESW trainees are amongst the happiest in the UK, with the majority of trainees wanting to stay in the South West of England after completion of their training. Our trainees have some of the highest pass rates for MRCGP in the UK. This combination makes HESW an ideal choice for your GP training!
