Induction & Refresher MCQ Assessment

There are two parts to the MCQ I& R Learning Needs Assessment; both are designed to assess some of the essential competences outlined in the National Person Specification and are based around clinical scenarios. Applicants will first be asked to complete a Professional Dilemmas (PD) paper, followed by a Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) paper.

MCQ assessment dates - available at locations throughout the UK and approved sites worldwide

  • Wednesday 7 December 2016
    Registration forms must be received from the supporting deanery by 9 November 2016

  • Wednesday 1 March 2017
    Registration forms must be received from the supporting deanery by 3 February 2017

  • Wednesday 7 June 2017
    Registration forms must be received from the supporting deanery by 12 May 2017

  • Wednesday 6 September 2017
    Registration forms must be received from the supporting deanery by 11 August 2017

  • Wednesday 6 December 2017
    Registration forms must be received from the supporting deanery by 10 November 2017


Number of permissible attempts & associated costs

Applicants are permitted a maximum number of 4 attempts at the MCQ. The first attempt (both papers) is free, subsequent attempts will be charged at £150 if you are required to re-sit both papers or £75 to re-sit a single paper. A successful attempt at the MCQ is valid for a maximum of 12 months from the date of the assessment.
